About the Show

TheHourGLASS Podcast with David Glass, a Certified Family Law Specialist and former Psychologist, who has been practicing family law for the past 24 years, brings a collection of interesting people together for insightful, hard-hitting dialogue and commentary on how to the get through the divorce process productively and constructively.

Glass shares his expertise and wisdom, both as a family law attorney and former psychologist to help people navigate and resolve issues surrounding his/her/their divorce and to help them move on to a happier and healthier life.

Glass is the author of Moving On: Redesigning Your Emotional, Financial, and Social Life After Divorce.

Moving on is the whole premise of the show. That, and the value of time spent in various stages of the divorce process. This dynamic podcast is dedicated to bringing insight, clarity, and comfort to those who are about to go through divorce, those who are in the middle of one, or those trying to come out the other side of one. TheHourGLASS covers everything from what triggers a divorce, to how to navigate through one, and how to move on, from one.

Some of the guests include divorcees from all walks of life—those in the various stages of the divorce process—and those who have navigated through a divorce and have ideas to share—ones that have helped them through the difficult journey. In additional to divorcees, other “real-life” guests include children of divorced parents, judges and mediators who hear divorce cases. Grief counselors, HR directors–those who are subject to dealing with traumatized workers. Guests also include therapists, teachers, spiritual advisors, in-laws of divorced couples, and even reporters, editors, and others from the media who cover the many topics of divorce every day in their publications or on their broadcasts. Youngsters often provide mind-blowing perceptions of what they think and feel as they are dragged along with the process. We learn a tremendous amount from them.

The show also features well known personalities—various celebrities—who share his/her/their angst or wisdom and what they most learned as they moved through the divorce or break up experience. We ask all our experts questions pertinent to their experience or area of expertise. We probe into a deep range of topics like dealing with emotions, money, creating a new social life; co-parenting and dealing with a difficult ex. As the show winds up, at the close of each episode, The HourGLASS even offers a little levity. In our “Time Out!” segment. We invite a comic to come on and finish the rest of a sentence in a humorous way. We ask questions like: “Every time I think about divorce I think________or “Divorce is expensive because_____________.” Some comedians simply tell their favorite divorce joke or share their personal divorce story with a humorous flair.

Sure, maybe there are other divorce podcasts, but what sets TheHourGLASS apart is that it focuses a lot on time. Time is one of life’s most precious commodities. It addresses how much people spend on divorce, how much time they should spend on it, and how much time it takes to get through one and over it.

With that in mind, we kick around ideas on how to manage the time needed to  handle the separate stages of divorce and how much time it takes within reason to chart out a new life. Most importantly, we cover how much time a person may have wasted in a state of passive longing or mired in protracted divorce battles.

Host Glass does not opine on the subject of divorce lightly, or vicariously, he’s been there. He speaks about his divorce and what he learned through the process. His work, both as a psychologist and a family law attorney, have also given him a good deal of reference material. He leans on that experience to bring forth first-hand wisdom. His wish is to share that with others; to help them side-step or minimize the trauma many go through needlessly as they try to mitigate the challenges inherent in the divorce process.

Viewers are welcome to submit questions during the show or via the submit question tab or the show’s Facebook page before and after the show. David Glass and TheHourGLASS team will do their best to answer them.
