Where Family Law and Psychology Intersect

Episode 5 is both lively and relaxed as Host Glass visits with Mark Geragos, a legend in the legal community (who has worked on such high-profile cases as those of the of the Menendez brothers (their re-sentencing case), Scott Peterson, and Sean “Diddy” Combs trial in 2025) as Glass asks Geragos about his entry into the legal profession. (He loves a challenge, Geragos says during a portion of the interview, then explains his take on family law and its “no-win-conflict” dynamic.) In turn, Glass commiserates when he says his first admonishment is to coach the would-be divorcee to seek counseling. From there, the two then slide into a discussion of Domestic Violence where Geragos shares what constitutes it and the four words that should only be spoken when the offender is taken into custody. Glass explains how the family law courts are now looking at Domestic Violence; there’s talk about words and the weaponization of them. Moving on, Geragos talks frankly about the consequences for a Domestic Violence offender by ticking off what negative impact an act of battery or assault is likely to have on an offender’s future. Glass weighs in, letting Geragos know much more about divorce disputes: They just want to “win,” both agree, but conclude those realizations with, the fact that the only people who do win are the attorneys representing them. “You can be right or you can be happy,” Glass declares. What the viewer may most enjoy in this Episode is a sidebar chat about some of the well-known attorney hotshots who they both knew (or worked for) and what they learned from them. Cross-examination techniques for instance, like those of Steve Kolodney, whose name is among the “names” bandied about. If you’re into backstory, that part of the interview alone will intrigue you. Also, in a spontaneous table-turn. Geragos begins to interview Host Glass, providing THG viewers with a peek into the window of Glass.

In this new LookingGLASS blog entry, Host GLASS carries on with his focus on Domestic Violence. Last entry offered a checklist of “red flags” to look out for that indicate your intimate partner might attack you, physically or verbally. Or even kill you! In this entry, Glass carefully writes about the Restraining Order and the negative consequences of having one against you, if you’re the perpetrator. Such an order could disrupt and derail your life with life-long effects. Based on his interview with famed trial attorney, Mark Geragos (Episode 5), and his decades of experience as a family law attorney, Host Glass pulls no punches. He itemizes each potential “result” if a DVRO (Domestic Violence Restraining Order) offender has one levied against him/her. Glass suggests, during a highly charged breakup, that both parties take a deep breath and think long and hard before they act out and live to regret it, long after the breakup is over.

Rubio will also tick off the other pieces of legislation she has authored, co-authored, and championed, all of which have passed the California State Senate with flying colors.
