Music historian/documentary award-winning filmmaker, Denny Tedesco , talks about his new music doc, “Immediate Family,” a historic film about 4 classic rock musicians together for 45 years (a fifth added 20 years ago) who are hotter than ever, and he also talks about his first music doc, “The Wrecking Crew,” inspired by his late studio-musician father, Tommy Tedesco .

Host Glass queries Denny Tedesco about his new music industry documentary, “Immediate Family”, that chronicles the classic rock journey of four (later five) of the most consummate, contemporary studio and tour musicians in the business ( Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel, Leland Sklar and Russ Kunkel , later Steve Postell ) who accompany chart-topping artists like Steve Nicks, Don Henley, Jackson Browne, Phil Collins, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, James Taylor and Keith Richards , to name but a few. Tedesco ticks off some of his favorite ballads, and shares his thoughts about music and heartbreak.
This award-winning filmmaker has already racked up 18 major honors along the film festival circuit. Picked up by Magnolia Pictures, the film is screening on Hulu, VOD, and in select theaters. Tedesco also talks about The Immediate Family band–the four (now five) musicians in it–and their “musical marriage” of more than 45 years (Postell joined 20 years ago).. He also references his late father, famed studio musician, Tommy Tedesco , and the doc he made about his dad’s studio-musician group, “The Wrecking Crew.” That film was Denny Tedesco’s first historical account of the players behind most of the hits, soundtracks, and film scores from the 60s through the mid-90s.
The Immediate Family players have also been the “bones” of many of the biggest hits since the 70s–and up to today. Tedesco also talks about band breakups, and the reasons for them, as he contrasts the camaraderie of the long-standing “The Immediate Family ” band ensemble with others. He’s direct. He’s frank.
